It’s a milestone birthday year, and I told Mike: “time for a big trip!”
People asked, “where do you want to go?”
My reply: “Someplace I’ve not been before. But the journey is more important than the destination.”
I’m not sure when Alaska tickled my brain, but once it made its presence known, that was it.
We had planned to leave earlier in the summer, but my dad’s health led to a postponement. Because the ferry from Bellingham to Alaska runs on Fridays, we decided to leave on my birthday. Conveniently, it means we have Labor Day weekend to either extend the trip or recover from it!
The goal is the Arctic Circle.
